The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification. Social Media Backlash Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping. The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms. The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction. Measurement Approach Updates Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Shopper Accounts Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she explained. Required Changes A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products". "Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said. Service Background The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users. It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
